GMSC provides security for some of the largest events and shows such as NeoCon in Chicago, Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York. This expertise is one of the reasons we were enlisted to handle all aspects of security for The Armory Show at Piers 92/94 in 2018.
Piers 92/94 is a premier trade show and special event venue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, with 208,000 square feet of exhibit area. It is home to high profile design focused events such as The Armory Show, Architectural Digest Home Design Show, The Pier Antiques Show and leading fashion shows during New York Fashion Week. It is the second largest exhibit facility in New York City.
The Armory Show, held at Piers 92/94, is New York’s premier art fair featuring presentations by leading international galleries, innovative artist commissions and dynamic public programs. It draws more than 65,000 visitors over four days.
The Piers hired GMSC to handle the full range of security elements before, during and after the three day event. We partnered closely with GCJ Management, who managed the event, as well as NYPD, EMT and FDNY to ensure a cohesive process before, during and after the event.
PRE-EVENT SECURITY PREPARATION
- Coordinated inspections by fire department and building department and passed every inspection
- Conducted threat assessments of the entire facility to determine a strategic plan for ensuring coverage at all necessary points
- Managed all security for the build in and build out construction
- Prepared security for VIPs and Dignitaries, working closely with their security
OUTSIDE THE VENUE
- Coordinated traffic, effectively managing flow and ensuring safety measures
- Managed police barriers to ensure they weren’t violated
- Coordinated smooth and secure contractor entry/exit
- Monitored and mediated demonstrators in conjunction with NYPD
INSIDE THE VENUE
- Provided guard coverage throughout the venue
- Processed and screened all visitors through main entrance metal detectors
- Provided EMT technicians
- Provided fire guards, certified by FDNY to handle emergency evacuation and know local fire code
